Calm Under Stress: The Power of Meditation
Hey guys, I’m Chris Sajnog and I talk a lot about the importance of meditation and making you a better shooter. So in this post, I’m going to talk about how that meditation actually translates into keeping you calm under stress. So let’s go ahead and get started.
Meditation
Hopefully, you understand the importance of meditation, and you’re seeing results in your training. The question then comes up, “How does this actually translate into keeping me calm in a stressful situation?”
So I’m walking down the street and somebody pulls a gun on me? How do I draw back to that knowledge of meditation and all that work that you put in? By meditating, you’re actually practicing the ability to focus on something that you choose to focus on. When we meditate we all have random thoughts going through our minds and different things we think about and that’s completely normal.
Choose To Focus
Next, on how to keep calm under stress, Meditation is thinking about focusing on our breath or focusing on a word. You can do open-eye meditation or even do moving meditations like Tai Chi. What you’re able to do is go from distractions and acknowledge them but choose to focus on something different.
When you get in those situations, and somebody does pull a gun on you and you are under stress, you’ve got all these things that are going on around you, but you have practiced focusing on what’s most important at that place in space and time. That’s the benefit of meditation.
So I hope this helps you out on how you keep calm under stress through meditation. I hope you continue meditating because I promise you it will help you out in the future. Until next time, keep paving your path to perfection.
